It is that time of year again. As part of our sanctifying grace we do works of piety and mercy. Bible study is one of those opportunities. Bible Study brings us closer to God and to each other. We have some wonderful opportunities just for you to grow in your faith.
What is Disciple Bible Study? Disciple Bible Study is a study over 4-5 years that takes you through the Bible in a very intentional and in-depth way. You will grow closer in your faith as you dig deeply in the riches of the Biblical text and explore deep and provoking questions in your faith journey. All are welcome and you need not be a theological scholar to attend. This purpose of these studies is to help you grow as a disciple of Jesus and to learn and embrace faith in a rich and meaningful way.
What is Disciple 1? Disciple Fast Track (Disciple 1) is a new offering this year and is an adaptation of the Disciple Bible Study, which is an introductory course to the Bible and is the gateway to future Disciple Bible Studies. It provides a viable option for busy people seeking comprehensive engagement over time with the entire biblical text. Fast Track groups meet for a total of 24 weeks, devoting 12 weeks each to the Old Testament and the New Testament. Participants read manageable chapters of the Bible daily in preparation for the weekly meetings, which last approximately 60 minutes. Disciple 1 - Fast Track will be led by Senior Pastor Bill Eason and will meet on Wednesday evenings, 6-7 pm, following the Fellowship Family Meal. Cost for materials is $40 for both Spring and Fall Semester, or $20 for the Fall Semester. Sign Up - Click Here!
What is Disciple 4 Study? This study concentrates on Old Testament Writings, the Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, James, Jude, and finally, Revelation. Emphasis on the Psalms as Israel’s hymnbook and prayer book leads naturally to an emphasis on worship in the study. Present through the entire study is the sense of living toward completion – toward the climax of the message and the promise, extravagantly pictured in Revelation. The image of the tree and the color gold emphasize the prod and promise in the Scriptures. The word under in the title is meant to convey invitation, welcome, sheltering, security, and rest – home at last. Disciple 4 - Under The Tree Of Life begins in September on Sunday evenings, 5-7 pm, and is led by Pastor Bob Turk. The cost for this class is $40 for materials and covers both Fall and Spring Semesters. Sign Up - Click Here!
What is Christian Believer? The Christian Believer program focuses on classical teachings of the Christian faith—presenting, explaining, and interpreting them in a way that participants can understand, through the use of words, symbols, and hymns. Over a 30-week period, participants will examine the writings of ancient and modern Christian commentators and view video presentations by leading Bible scholars. The book of Readings includes brief selections from the writings of ancient and modern Christians on the great doctrines of the Christian faith. Each week's readings relate to the topic of the lesson in the Study Manual. We will offer Christian Believer on Wednesday nights, splitting the 30-week class up into sections of 10 sessions. Pastor Bob Turk will lead this class as well. Christian Believer uses similar training tactics but includes a reading book that will help the student to deal with the theological topic. We must have 12 people to begin the class. It will probably start on 9/7, too. Presently, we are anticipating holding the class from 6 - 7:30 pm in rooms 108-109. The cost for this class is $50 for materials and covers both the Fall and Spring Semesters. Sign Up - Click Here!
